COVID Star Nurses
LARA STREET, MSN, RN | Johns Hopkins Hospital
After completing her BSN from JHSON’s accelerated program in 2002,
Lara began working as a nurse on the Medical Progressive Care Unit in
the Department of Medicine. Later, she worked as the Medical Shift
Coordinator before returning to the Medical Progressive Care Unit as its
Nurse Manager in 2017.
Lara is accepting this award on behalf of “Nelson 5.”
“... what I can’t stop from running through my mind is that nothing that I
did throughout our work during this pandemic, and that continues to this
day, was done alone. From Eleni Flannigan’s daily strategy meetings with
me, to the MICU’s steady stream of ICU RN’s to mentor my nurses over 6
months, to the nurses of Nelson 5 who showed up without hesitation and
took on new skills and challenges – and continue to do so with no end in
sight. And while I was at the epicenter of a lot of this activity I feel so
passionately that it would only be right to keep the focus on nursing –
Nelson 5 nurses in particular.”
