Cathie Axe is the Executive Director of Johns Hopkins’ Student
Disability Services. She oversees student disability services
across the university with the goal of increasing accessibility and
inclusion. Cathie has spent 28 years in disability services across a
range of higher education institutions, expanding awareness and
improving services.

The Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine
Department of Epidemiology, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School
of Public Health
Johns Hopkins Center on Aging and Health
Dr. Swenor is an Epidemiologist and Associate Professor at the
Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine
and the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins
Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is the founder and
Director of the newly established Johns Hopkins Disability Health
Research Center, which aims to maximize the health, equity, and
participation of people with all types of disabilities. This Center
connects the world-class research at Johns Hopkins to private
and public sector stakeholders in order to create
innovative solutions that address long-standing disability
inequities. Her work if fueled by her personal experience with
visual disability, a perspective that provides powerful insight to
her research.
